Worship and Music Mission
The Worship and Music ministry of DFBC exists to call people to passionate and authentic worship of the one true God and His Son, Jesus Christ, by modeling true worship through carefully chosen music, drama and media and establishing a spiritual atmosphere in which corporate and personal worship can take place.
Worship and Music Philosophy
It has been said before, but we believe in the audience of “One”; all of the people gathered for worship, both those on the platform and those not, are the performers for God. It is all for Him. It is not primarily for us.
- All gifted persons of every age should be involved at a level in which they will succeed and grow.
- Worship and music leadership should have equal parts “heart” and “art”.
- All aspects of the arts should be practiced as an act of worship.
- The musicians on the platform will have three roles in the worship service: first and foremost, to be a worshipper; secondly, to be a worship leader; thirdly, to be a performer. If this balance is in place then an atmosphere for worship will be established.
- Great planning enables joyful spontaneity!
- Since the church is made up of all ages and tastes in music, then the music used in worship should reflect the church.
- We believe that prayer and the reading of the Word should be a vital part of worship.
- We believe that the order of worship should be new and fresh as often as possible.
