Missions and Outreach![]() Missions and outreach are supported in a variety of ways at Dishman Baptist Church.
Scott Dollar (picture to left) is a church planter in Lethbridge, AB, Canada. The people of Dishman not only support Scott and his family financially, but have sent short-term mission teams to help them in their ministry. Go to the bottom of this page to read an update on Scott's ministry.
Haley Jones (picture below) is serving with the North American Mission Board (NAMB) in Houston, TX. Go to the bottom of this page to read an update on Haley's ministry.
![]() Dishman sends 7% of all tithes and offerings to the Northwest Baptist Cooperative to support SBC seminaries and other area-wide missions activities.
Dishman on Mission is an annual mission project where whole families are encouraged to participate. The gospel is shared through a variety of means and God has honored His Word with many coming to Christ, as well as new churches being planted.
Dishman Baptist Church supports three special missions offering throughout the year in cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention.
1. Sylvia Wilson. This offering supports local and state missions, church planting, regional NAMB missionaries and state evangelism projects.
2. Annie Armstrong. This offering supports the NAMB and church planting in North America.
3. Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Lottie Moon (the namesake of this international missions offering) has become something of a legend to Southern Baptists everywhere. But in her time (1840-1912) Lottie was anything but an untouchable heroine. In fact, she was much like today's missionaries. She was a hard-working, deep-loving woman who labored tirelessly so her chosen people-group could know her Savior. She served for 39 years in China, chiefly in Tengchow and P'ingtu. She didn't just serve the people of China; she identified with them and became one of them. In 1912, during a time of war and famine, Lottie silently starved, knowing that her beloved Chinese didn't have enough food. On Christmas Eve, Lottie died on a ship bound for the United States. She embodies the spirit and commitment of servants of the Lord everywhere as she gave all that she had for the sake of the gospel. Please consider giving a generous offering this December to support foreign missions.

January 8, 2008
I was planning today or tomorrow to send out a monthly update. I will send another email in the next day or so but wanted to make this prayer request separate.
We had some depressing news yesterday. One of our financial sponsors sent a letter stating that they would not be supporting us for 2008. This was 25% of our expected funding. Obviously 25% of your pay being cut is a big thing, but on the other hand just because it was short notice for us doesn't mean that it is short notice for the Lord. He knew this was going to happen and also knows what He will do.
Thanks for your prayers and all that you mean to us.
For His Glory From Haley Jones I work in the inner city of Houston, serving a mostly Hispanic community.
